After completing his BA in Fine Art at the University of Sunderland in 1994, Richard Billingham
burst onto the scene with his acclaimed series of photographs of his family, included in the
notorious, Sensation: Young British Artists from the Saatchi Collection in 1997.
This was shortly followed by his selection and subsequent winning of the Citibank Private Bank Photography prize in
1997. In 2001 he was
shortlisted for Britain's Turner Prize, as
well as having his work included in the 49th Venice Biennale.
Richard Billingham lives and works in London.
