Alain de Botton

Born in 1969 in Zurich, Alain de Botton whose family originates from Spain, was educated both in London and Switzerland. He is the author of six books, the fourth How Proust Can Change Your Life (April 1997) really defined the public's idea of his writing: intellectual "self-help" books. Less self-help, than a thinking man's intellectual travelogue, these works provide an unusual genre-combination of philosophy, biography, autobiography/travel-writing and intellectual history. Less "Consolations" and more balms for the soul, de Botton is currently working on his seventh book, Status Anxiety.

Alain de Botton lives and works in London.
